Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP) Leadership In Action Intern, Mayta Lor, was placed at LEAP. Sharing Accomplishments from the Midwest to the West Coast

Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP) Leadership In Action Intern, Anna Courchaine, was placed at the Koreatown Youth and Community Center.  She worked with their summer youth program, helping to create improv and public speaking curriculum for middle school students and aiding elementary school students with their theater production of classic fables.  She is a senior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, College of Design.  Below she tells LEAP who she would like to have present at her Leadership In Action graduation and why.

2014 LEAP Leadership Awards Dinner

More than 350 guests joined Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. (LEAP) on Thursday, July 24, 2014 to celebrate LEAP’s 32 years of “Growing Leaders” and to honor the leadership and accomplishments of individuals and organizations that exemplify LEAP’s mission to achieve full participation and equality for Asian and Pacific Islanders through leadership, empowerment, and policy. Guests were inspired by the honorees and enjoyed an entertaining evening with an auction, dinner, and much more. The gala program began with welcoming speeches from LEAP Board Chair, Thelma Kailiwai, and LEAP President and CEO, Linda Akutagawa. David Ono, co-anchor at ABC7, was the emcee for the evening.

LEAP celebrated its 31st of “Growing Leaders” at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, July 25, 2013, where James Y. Ryu, O. Fahina Tavake-Pasi, Alan and Joanne Kumamoto, and the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund were honored for their continued commitment, successes and contributions to the API community through leadership.

2012 LEAP Leadership Awards Dinner

LEAP celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 26, 2012. Over 500 people attended this year’s gala, where JD Hokoyama, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Thang, Maggie Mui, and Hui O Hana Pono were honored.
