An intensive 4-day experience, the 2015 Leadership Development Program for Higher Education (LDPHE) was held on July 8-11, 2015 at Kellogg West Conference Center and Hotel at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The LDPHE is a program designed to enhance the professional development of Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) and prepare college/university administrators, faculty, and staff to move into leadership positions and to take on positions of greater visibility and influence on their campuses. The LDPHE program has been around since 1997, conducted by LEAP in partnership with the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE). LDPHE is the only program in the United States that combines leadership training through a unique understanding of Asian and Pacific Islanders with personal coaching and the invaluable insights of successful API leaders in higher education.
This year's program had a total of 36 Asian and Pacific Islander staff, administrators, and faculty in higher education from across the nation participated. Participants received hands-on workshops, mentoring, and interactive dialogues with API educational leaders who helped to guide participants in developing their personalized leadership career plans. In addition to leadership skills training, the program built networks among participants, leading college and university presidents, faculty and senior administrators.
LEAP would like to congratulate this year's 2015 LDPHE participants in their completion of this program!
"I would say that LDPHE is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you should never miss. It's not a conference -- it's an investment in yourself. The enriching program brings to light your strengths, cultural values and experiences as something to be proud of at your workplace. It's about establishing meaning in your daily routine, prioritizing well-being personally and professionally and knowing that you have a supportive community behind you."
