Applications for the 2015 Leadership In Action Now Available

Approaching its 18th year, LEAP's eight-week Leadership In Action (LIA) Summer Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for personal leadership development with hands-on training and exploration of the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) nonprofit sector.  Interns will be placed at a nonprofit organization four days a week and will receive leadership training with LEAP once a week.  Nationally recognized trainers will deliver workshops in critical skill areas. Issue discussions are on local or timely topics of interest and are facilitated by local community leaders/activists and LEAP trainers.

Emerging Leaders Program 2014-2015 Part 1 Concludes

LEAP just wrapped up Part 1 of the 2014-2015 Emerging Leaders Program for nonprofit staff this past Friday, December 12, 2014. The Emerging Leaders Program is a three part, six-month program designed to build nonprofit organizational capacity by developing Asian and Pacific Islander (API) staff for future and current leadership and management roles in nonprofit organizations as well as increasing the retention of APIs who are committed to working in the nonprofit sector.

Proud Father travels from Tennessee to California to Celebrate Son’s accomplishments

Summer Internship, Lifetime Relationships for 2014 LIA Intern Chan Naing

Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP) Leadership In Action Intern, Chan Naing, was placed at the Thai Community Development Center (ThaiCDC).  She worked closely with their Executive Director, Chanchanit (Chancee) Martorell, on the organization’s annual fundraiser, 20th Anniversary Gala.  She is a senior at the University of Florida, majoring in Anthropology.  At the Leadership In Action Graduation, Chan spoke candidly about her life changing experience at ThaiCDC and began tearing when she realized she could not attend the event she had worked hard to help plan.  However, upon receiving the below email from Chancee, LEAP and Southwest Airlines offered Chan an opportunity to come back to Los Angeles for the event.
